Making An Appointment

If you would like to meet with me to discuss how counselling might help you, please telephone 07958 551127 to arrange an appointment. If I am not available to take your call please leave a message and I will return your call at the earliest opportunity. Alternatively, you may e-mail me at thinktherapymail@gmail.com
All calls and e-mails are treated as strictly confidential.

Cost

I offer our first appointment at a reduced cost of £20. The first appointment is an opportunity for us to meet and decide whether my services could be of help to you and whether you wish to book further sessions. People in full-time employment can expect to pay £35 per session. Concessions and block bookings can be negotiated for sessions attended at my home in Cotton.

Confidentiality

Confidentiality is one of the cornerstones of the counselling and psychotherapy profession. It means that whatever we discuss in our sessions together will not be shared with third parties unless you specifically request it.

How do I know if a counsellor is qualified?

Most professional counsellors are members of one or more professional bodies like the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP). A professional body such as the BACP will check a counsellor’s qualifications before including their name on their register of qualified counsellors.

How long do people stay in counselling?

There is no right answer to this question. It varies enormously, and largely depends on how much work you feel you can do right now on the issues that you want to bring to counselling. The length of time you might want to spend attending counselling sessions does not necessarily reflect on the degree of difficulty you are experiencing. It’s an individual thing. Counselling can be both time-limited and open-ended according to your needs.

Aims of Counselling

Space: To provide you with a non-judgemental, safe and confidential space in which you can talk about emotions and thoughts that you may not have been able to express before, or to address important matters that have been put off but always seem to return.

Support: To provide a supportive relationship where you experience warmth, empathy and understanding.

Barriers: Counselling can explore the barriers in your life - those you are conscious of and those you are not conscious of. Some problems may never go away entirely but how we manage them and our attitude/relationship to them can change. Oddly enough as we feel better, or make different connections, the problem may not be so overbearing.

Choices: The essential purpose of therapy is to enable a better understanding and awareness of yourself so that you can make informed choices about how you want to live your life.
